Introducing: Black Poetic Astronomy
Ancient pasts,
collective present,
imagined futures.
Black Poetic Astronomy is a framework for questioning the cosmos. Together we’ll explore our ancient pasts, collective present, and imagined future relations to the cosmos and our inner worlds.
We do this by exploring the relations between different knowledge systems, particularly indigenous, ancient, and black knowledge systems. Black Poetic Astronomy traverses and maps the venn diagram of fundamental physics and black feminist poetry.
Each cohort will reclaim inquiry through six modules: Ancestral Cosmologies, Gravity, Fluids, Constellations, Combustion, Black Holes.
Summer Cohorts
Over the course of the summer, we will offer two containers for collective study: an immersive two-week in-person Atlanta cohort and an expansive 7-week virtual cohort.

Black Poetic Astronomy is a collaboration between Branden Collins and Raya Hazell.
