no wonder you are weeping

I wrote this poem one morning in late March, weeping on the beach in Saquarema, Brazil. I felt discouraged, I felt like I was forgetting who I was. Mid journaling, amidst the waters of tears and sea salt, I decided to write myself an affirmation. This is the poem that came out.

Deep gratitude to Bonnie and ✴︎ zi starchild who helped make this poem into a sonic world. Last Sunday night at like 8pm I asked them if they would help me just add some reverb to help soften a scratchy recording I had made on my iPhone. We picked up a couple bahn mi’s and descended into the basement. What was supposed to be a simple poem turned into a portal. I’m excited to share you with you what we made ~~

I also made a corresponding playlist if you want to continue in the sonic energy of the poem. (Sorry I don’t have Qobuz yet. :’))

Apple Music

Spotify

I’m still flirting and dating around when it comes to what platforms I share on and what cadence. All of this is awkward and weird to me. But, you can also watch on YouTube, which feels like it might be the main place I archive and share videos from this summer. Or at least where I share first. (It’s easy to share when you feel like nobody’s watching.)
