Pink Moon

Pink Moon

Pink Moon

tomorrow, i invite us to celebrate the pink full moon.

the Maine Farmers' Almanac* calls the full Moon in April the Pink Moon, naming it "after the herb moss pink (AKA creeping phlox, moss phlox, or mountain phlox.) This plant, native to the eastern USA, is one of the earliest widespread flowers of spring."[1]

this spring i find myself spreading out.
today i laid out on top of a picnic table in a renovated Brownwood Park**, looking up at fluffy clouds against a blue sky on a perfect spring day. i am calling a dear one i last saw a few months ago in Taipei, dialing her in New York where i will be next month, and telling her about Colombia, where i was with family this week.

i am able to spread out across borders because I have that damn blue passport, and because, like the sprouting flowers, i am rooted. last year I started a careful journey of re-making home here in atlanta. its been full of both joy & grief — all of it: portals.

a large part of that rerooting was signing a lease in atlanta, at the apartment I am inviting you to. it was a temporary, 6 month lease, meant to give me stability after almost two years of nomadic wandering around the world. it offered me a place to return, a safe place to propagate parts of myself, to prune and to compost.

this house was my first rerooting, and this weekend will be my last full moon in it. this is my last moon before a new, deeper blossoming, a deeper commitment to place (hint: emily and i just signed on a year lease in atl! eep! stay tuned for the house warming)***

thank you for letting me reflect with you. I would love to hear how this moon is arriving for you — i would love to share this last moon on Cameron St with you.

like this house, my friends remind me that being at home and being one who wanders do not have to be contradictory statements. <3

I look forward to gathering with you and sharing the ways we all hope to blossom in the remainder of this lunar cycle and to celebrate the ways we already have.

making this site in a pretty pink, I am grateful for the way spring is inviting such saturated and lush color to our lives, cause otherwise this sh*t would be bleak. in times like these i cant tell if i want to pray or party, so I was thinking tomorrow we can do both?

8:30pm — cozy vibes in the living room, gentle tunes for ambient gathering. feel free to bring a book or journal for independent reflection

9:30pm — moon circle & group reflections

11pm**** — dance! coffintexts @ pisces (free before 11, $10 after, aries get in free) we can pre a bit before at mine! ill provide flower, if y'all bring drinks <3

+1's and 2's welcome!

*is that the source I want to use? not really but it's what i'm using for now so bear with me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

1 Source: Canton Becker's astrology calendar. They make a lovely calendar that you can easily add to your iCal or Google to add all the moon phases and transits. :')

**when did they do that? who did that? I am skeptical of who this new community garden and railing is for….

*** leave it to me to dramatize signing a year lease lol girllllll

**** no pressure to rally, if you want to dip after rituals, respect, if you want to come later just to dance, respect that too!
